I head up the UK equity team as well as having responsibility for all the European Allianz portfolio managers running income or value funds.

My investment style emphasises fundamental analysis, cash flow and income generation with a strong value focus and a long term perspective. I tend to have a contrarian bias, looking to buy sound companies that are out of favour within a market with an increasingly short-term time horizon.

I started my career just before the crash of 1987, managing UK equity portfolios for 14 years at Phillips & Drew Fund Management, a well-known value investing house. After that I spent 5 years at HSBC Asset Management running income funds and leading the institutional UK equity process, before joining Allianz in 2006. I have a mathematics degree from Cambridge University.

Outside the office I spend most of my time with my family, but I also play 5-a-side football and I am a keen but poor golfer.
